The work is inspired by the connection relationship between human cells. The design uses a
weaving method to weave an irregular mesh to more realistically represent the relationship
between cells in the human body. The red ones are cells, and special stitching methods are
used to make them more layered. The design of the whole piece is relatively simple, but
loose and has fungi attached to it.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, 2023
Ink, Nylon fabric
9 x 12 inches
The work is inspired by the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which appears to express Jesus' great love for the world. The center of the vision is the big red heart on the chest. The heart and red represent the human body. The golden tassels represent the blood vessels of God, flowing with divine golden blood. The arrow design of the facial device is to express that even though Jesus has a heart of great love, he is still covered in bruises and his face is bleeding with red and golden blood. It is for human beings and for Jesus himself.
I made a sample fabric transformation for the heart part. I burn a section of each piece of nylon fabric and it will appear charred. Then sew each piece of processed fabric together, gradually overlapping other fabrics from the middle outwards. Visually, the middle part of the love is the deepest, looking at the inside of the loving heart of Jesus.
Deep Sea, 2023
Pencil, Ink, Collage
9 x 12 inches
The work is inspired by the diversity of deep-sea creatures and their interesting skeletal development. The entire work is mainly composed of all-black clothing and exaggerated skeletal metal devices. A single black color can highlight the hidden ability of the deep sea. It is also the color of the deep sea, a very dark and load-bearing color. The large, incompletely matched metal device completely envelops the human body, revealing the strange growth patterns of deep-sea animals.
